Frank the Wedding Singer
One of the Top Solo Wedding Singers in Melbourne
Solo Act with Full Band Sound.

Hello there, and thanks for considering me to be a part of your special day.

I've been very lucky to have sung at many weddings, and the wonderful thing is that each one is so unique - so many different ways to organise a wedding - from its size to its location - from the overall atmosphere (formal, casual, in-between), to music choices (have a wedding singer, or multiple wedding singers?, or hire a cover band? … or No Band?), outfits, cars and, and, and ...

Obviously there is no right or wrong as it's all about what you want.

My specialty is music, and I perform at weddings (reception and/or ceremony) as a solo act, using top quality backing music, giving a full band sound at a very different price-point to a wedding band.

As a professional Wedding and Function singer, I've noticed some things that reappear often at Weddings and Functions as they work well - I’ve written about them below for the 3 most common type of wedding bookings I get - I hope they are of some help to you …

Best Regards, Frank.

At Your Wedding
Ceremony…

  • As your guests arrive, I sing for about 15 minutes before the bride's arrival, setting the atmosphere - slower classics from Evergreens & Jazz Standards section of my songlist.

  • As you walk down the aisle - I can sing the song of your choice for this magic moment. I've sung everything from Etta James magnificent ‘At Last’ to Piaf's ‘La Vie En Rose’ to Nat King Cole's ‘L-O-V-E’- no doubt you have ideas too :) Some folks prefer a prerecorded song - I can take care of that and play it for you.

  • Signing of the register - choose 2 or 3 songs from my song-list, or I can choose some appropriate ones.

  • And finally, when you leave as a married couple, it's time for joyous songs of celebration - upbeat, happy - can be anything you want. One that is often chosen is ‘Love is In The Air’, and there are many more also.

At Your Cocktail-Style Reception…

Reception - CocktailStyle1.jpg

In the less formal atmosphere of a cocktail style reception, I typically aim for songs that are stylish, happy & classic.

Many songs in the Lounge & Cocktail section of my song-list work well, such as:

  • A Kiss To Build A Dream On

  • C'est Si Bon

  • La Vie En Rose

  • L-O-V-E

  • Glory of Love

  • Moon River

  • My Baby Just Cares For Me

  • The Look Of Love

You might have specific song choices also which I welcome.

Initially, I would start with the volume at a background level, to not get in the way of people chatting (especially important if your guests have a wide age range).

As cocktail style is less formal, you may or may not have a Grand Entrance or Bridal Dance.

If you choose to, I would be delighted to work with you if you wanted specific songs sung at these moments. Or sometimes couples prefer an mp3 song to be played instead - I can take care of this if you wish (note: I would get the mp3 of the song from you well before the wedding day, to check it plays seamlessly through my sound system :)

Also, cocktail style receptions are sometimes outdoor (or at least places where dancing is less of an option). If so, I probably wouldn't launch into a dance set unless/until I noticed the vibe was right, and some guests were quite keen.

And finally, do you, or some of your guests like to sing? If so, maybe come and sing a song with me? A duet, or maybe solo. Or maybe you, the married couple, sing a song to your guests? Lots and lots of options…

At Your Sit Down
Reception…

Reception - SitDown1.jpg

In the more formal, sit-down style reception, it helps me to think of it in the following sections (not always in this order of course).

  • Period before your Grand Entrance

As your guests filter into the reception space, I sing gentle & romantic songs that have a slowish tempo - possibly a song like ‘This Guys In Love With You’ (Burt Bacharach), or tracks from Sinatra, Cole Porter, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald etc. My aim is to provide a welcoming presence & friendly smile to folks entering the room.

  • Your Grand Entrance

What A Wonderful Moment! Music-wise, Upbeat, Happy, Celebration! Either songs of your choosing, or fun classics like ‘That's Amore’, Sinatra's ‘Love and Marriage’ or even ‘Going to the Chapel’ etc. Lots of options…

  • People circulating, leading into food being served.

From what I have noticed, during this time many guests love to move around and chat with family & friends - some who may have travelled long distances to attend. I aim for songs that are well known, and keep the volume a bit background-ish so the music doesn't compete with your guests conversing.
Sometimes during this period, some couples who particularly like dancing enjoy having a 'slow dance' with their partners . Songs that fit these requirements are often songs from the Evergreens & Jazz Standards and Lounge & Cocktail sections of my song-list.

  • Speeches

You are welcome to use my microphones for your speeches if you wish.

  • Wedding Dance / Father & Daughter Dance / Mother & Son Dance

Some couples love these dance traditions and some just don't. As always, no right & no wrong. If you choose to have some or all of these wedding dances, I would love sing your song choices - songs either from my song list, or I can learn your favorite song. Or you can supply me with mp3 files of songs which I can cue and play.

  • Everyone Invited Onto The Dance-Floor

After the Wedding Dance, everyone is invited onto the dance-floor. At this moment I choose a well known classic that is cross-generational, so that you, your friends, your parents, maybe grandparents, and even the kids can all easily occupy the dance floor. Songs that have a medium beat, and strong rhythm so they are easy to dance to. I often pick a few songs from the Evergreens & Jazz Standards section of my song-list, and then quickly move onto 60s-80s & Onward section.

  • Plug in your iPhone for your Playlist!

Yes, plug in your own iPhone. It's getting late, and it's time to plug in your iPhone and play your own favorites - exactly the playlist you want - maybe latest chart hits to keep the serious dancers happy? It's up to you.

  • Departure Moment

Sadly, time to leave - so many ways for you to depart - a farewell circle, or walking through an arch of your guests arms? Depending on your choices, songs here can be anything from the more traditional ‘Auld Lang Syne’ to just fun ‘Love Is In The Air’, or a reprise of the song you had coming down the aisle earlier in the day. Lots of options….

I hope you find some of this useful. If you would like to explore possibilities, ring me for a chat or send an email.

Best Regards Frank.

Paul and I just wanted to say thanks you so much for last night, you were amazing - everyone loved the performance and all the songs. People will definitely be recommending you for weddings and functions. Thank you once again - Amazing.
